Art on Display/Painting in the Park

Suzanne has her "Plein Air Paintings" on display for the next two months at Andrew Jackson's Hermitage (Hermitage, Tennessee) as part of a special show with the Chestnut Group, a nonprofit based in Nashville that celebrates the tradition of outdoor painting by bringing together a diverse community of plein air artists. Plein air refers to the 19th-century style of painting outdoors with a strong sense of the open air, which became a central feature of French impressionism. Her work "Afternoon Glow" is a great example of the style. (Pictured below)

In addition to the Chestnut group, she is a member of the Rutherford Arts Alliance, the Smyrna Artist’s Cooperative, Nashville Creative Group, and is the president of the Murfreesboro Art League, where she occasionally teaches art classes. She has been the featured artist at the Murfreesboro Art League, as well as the Linebaugh and Smyrna Public libraries. She recently has had her work shown at the Parthenon in Centennial Park in Nashville, The Jewish Community Center, Shelby Bottoms, Radnor Lake State Park, and The Bridge Building. Painting in the Parks

Ages 15 & up can join Suzanne this summer at "Painting in the Parks", a community event from Murfreesboro Parks & Recreation. Local artists will lead you through different projects with the goal of "creating in nature" and introducing you to new mediums. This will take place Saturday, May 30th at Cannonsburgh Village in Murfreesboro from 9am -12pm with more dates to come! Cost is $25. For more information email Amy Barbieri at [email protected].
