Stones River Car Club Check Presentation

The 32nd Annual Stones River Region AACA Swap Meet, originally scheduled for the weekend of the ice storm at the Nashville Fairgrounds, unfortunately had to be canceled due to the severe weather. The Fairgrounds became a place to house hundreds of Nashvillian's left without power for the weeks following the storm.

The Stones River AACA has been holding the "Car Swap Meet" event for more than 50 years and is one of the largest events that take place over a full weekend at the facility. It draws vendors and attendees from the region and states as far away as Michigan and Texas. This is the largest fundraising event for the club each year.

Each year the organization has leaned on local non profits to assist with the logistics of the event. One of the special traditions of the Swap Meet is that a portion of the proceeds is donated to the nonprofit organizations that volunteer.

In spite of this years event being canceled, the leadership of the Stones River AACA recognized that the non profits that participate have been affected by many things related to current economic conditions and were depending on the event for operating revenue. So with a generous gesture of appreciation the club voted to make a donation to the organizations who had committed to be engaged this year.

"We realize that these non profits were counting on this money to assist with operating expenses and they were just caught in an unfortunate situation just like us," said Jeremy Byrd, President of the Stones River AACA. "Even though it might not be as much as we would normally give, we still wanted to give something."

For many years, Ron Alley and Susan Gulley and other Carpe Artista volunteers have faithfully helped with the setup and organization of this event. 

A special thank you to the Stones River AACA for the generous donation to Carpe Artista. Your support is greatly appreciated! It helps Carpe Artista continue to bring quality entertainment and arts instruction to the students of Rutherford County.
