Healing Through Music: Veteran Mental Wellness Powered by Community Support

Limited Space Available

At Carpe Artista, we believe that health and mental wellness can be nurtured through the arts—especially when creativity is paired with compassion and professional care. We are honored to launch a pilot Songwriting Therapy Program for veterans, made possible through the generous support of two community-focused grants that believe deeply in healing, service, and creative expression.

Thanks to funding from the Smyrna Rotary Club and the Tennessee Arts Commission, this 10-week pilot program is being offered at no cost to participating veterans. These grants allow Carpe Artista to remove financial barriers and focus fully on what matters most: providing a safe, supportive space where veterans can explore their stories, strengthen mental wellness, and reconnect through music.

The program will be led by published songwriters who have a heart for veterans—many of whom are veterans themselves. Each session will also be supported by licensed mental health professionals from Elle Mental Health, ensuring participants receive both creative guidance and emotional support throughout the process.

By investing in this program, the Smyrna Rotary Club and the Tennessee Arts Commission are helping to demonstrate how arts-based initiatives can play a meaningful role in mental health, community healing, and veteran support. Their partnership not only makes this pilot possible, but also lays the foundation for the program to grow into an ongoing resource for veterans in our community.

This pilot will run for 10 weeks, from Feb. 5th to April 9th, 6:30- 8:30pm. There will be a final performance event open to the public. We have hope that the success of the pilot will lead to an ongoing program that continues to empower veterans through creative expression and connection.

Join us April 23, 7–9 PM at Memories Bar & Grill in LaVergne for the Celebrative Performance

Space is limited and registration is required. If you are a veteran—or know someone who is—this is an opportunity to experience how music, mental health support, and community investment can come together to create real impact.
