Careers in the Arts?
Tracy Broussard, Suzanne LeBeau, Pearl Goll and Rob Higginbotham volunteered at Smyrna High School's Career fair on the morning of December 9th, telling students about career possibilities in the arts and demonstrating guitar, drums, violin and visual arts to the students. Tracy's drum kit and Rob's guitar were both big hits with students and teachers alike. Suzanne and Pearl shared their experiences with the high schoolers and gave them information about our private and group lessons and summer programs. While instruments are usually engaging with high school students, our instructors made sure to go beyond the moment and tell students about actual career opportunities in the arts, from live music performance that you might not consider, like weddings and church services, to behind the scene jobs like instrument tech or sound and lights engineer.
Carpe Artista is always looking for opportunities to interact with and enrich our community, and serving the next generation of artists and entertainment professionals is right at the front of our mission statement. Thank you Smyrna High for the opportunity to share with your students. See you next year!
